There wasn't much to add to the Thinkpad T-series that hasn't already been said. If you need a work laptop, well, this should do just fine. Coming from older computers, like a higher-end mac from 2014, I found this one benchmarking around the same general area in geekbench 4 (about 800-900) in single core performance. For generalized office work, bill pay, and day-to-day media consumption it should be plenty, with some light forays into video editing or..... actually I'm never writing music or making youtube poops so who really cares how an older thinkpad performs? It's not a macbook, it's a biz machine! Gaming? What's that? You mean spreadsheets? Cloud documents? How about you check out that PDF your boss just sent you, it's probably super interesting!Oh and the 580 is compatible with most of the T480 modding scene, so you can change out the somewhat plasticky and flexy matte trackpad for the glass ones off the X1, as well as screens, should you want something more battery-efficient or higher resolution than the 1080 panel. It's got a fingerprint reader, too, and USB-C ports for external monitors and file transfers. That's all the standout stuff from previous thinkpads that stands out to me. In most respects, it feels just like the one I got in 2002, just a little bit lighter and a lot faster.
